Leaving Bonny!
During Christmas leave the security situation in Nigeria escalated with dependants and school teaching staff being repatriated.
In March, I volunteered to transfer on a temporary basis to Brunei to cover a maternity leave. I have been teaching a Year 2 class in the mornings and as the French teacher left very suddenly I became responsible for the teaching of KS2 French.
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching in Brunei and have appreciated the experience. I have improved my knowledge and learned and become competent in using interactive whiteboards; technology I have not had access to before.
I have been able to advise the school about latest developments in French language learning as well as helping them to deliver the appropriate learning targets required. Resources were limited but I have completed research and sourced new materials for the school.
I will not be returning to Nigeria to teach.
In the meantime I will be moving back to Beverley, East Yorkshire where I intend to spend the coming months visiting local schools and working as a supply teacher.
