What recruiters want

Ideally a recruiter would come into your current school, spend some time talking to you, your colleagues and the children you teach and then observe you at work. This is why some recruiters prefer to appoint internally, particularly to more senior positions.

The TIC portfolio is an attempt to get as close to this experience as possible for the recruiter.

Our survey of recruiters provides the following hints for what they would like to see evidence of in a portfolio:-
  • your attitude towards children
  • your philosophy of education and your preferred methodologies which should reflect how you have adapted to the local situation
  • your organisational skills
  • your ability to work in a team/with others
  • your level of enthusiasm to teaching in general
  • your attitude to extra curricular activities
  • your international understanding and openness to accept and celebrate a range of cultures and differences
  • how you deal with children for whom English is a second language
  • how you differentiate in the classroom
